I've been doing a little checking, as the original incident happened a few miles from my place.

This map shows the landowner's property outlined. There is a road on his east side, and state property on his west, with the off-road park entrance a mile or two west-northwest.

Lots of trails on the power line clearing, on his land, between the state land and the road. but I have no idea if there is any access easement.

Dan,
Your situation sound very much like mine. I have both an outer gate and an inner gate. The neighbor runs cattle in between the two gates - so the outer one keep them off the county road and the inner gate keeps them out of my property. My driveway runs right down the section line.

Funny story - years and years ago - very hot day - I was sitting in the living room in my underwear, enjoying a cold one and comes a knock at the door. I get up - still holding the cold one and answer the door. Its two ladies from the Watchtower - there to save my soul and provide free literature. There was an obvious moment of silence - as both side of the threshold took in the scene. I do not know why but for some reason my first reaction was - "Ladies would you like a cold beer?" Total shock on the part of the two ladies - they spun around - exited the porch and I've never seen or heard from the Watchtower since. I was either beyond their help or I already had been saved and needed no further assistance from them.

I thought the wife was going to faint - she laughed so hard. However, I've been told many time that its probably not best to sit around in my underwear. I've taken that advice with a grain of salt.

Much similar except I had grabbed a robe. As the "conversation" progressed in usual fashion I carelessly let the robe gape open more and more. Also didn't hear anything more from them in years.

yea, if I wanted 4 wheelers and dirt bikes ridden on my property, I want them to be mine. Had some renters down the road that would ride in my hay field and knock it down. I had to talk to the landlord and it did stop.

If you need a fainting couch every time you see/hear a dirt bike, consider counseling.

Interesting, I like ridding as much as the next guy, I just do not ride on someone else's property and want everybody else to follow the same rule.

I set a deer stand by a pond behind my house a few years ago, I am a good 1/2 mile from the nearest road and almost in the center of a 40 acre parcel. Opening morning of rifle season I load up and walk the 100 yards to my stand. Guess what, someone is in it, they explain that since they beat me to the stand they had rights to hunt in it and they had been hunting here for over 20 years which of course is a lie (my dad purchased the land in 1972 from my grandfather). I guess you would be ok with seeing or hearing someone shooting a rifle 100 yards behind you house???

BTW - I had to call the sheriff to get them to leave.

The article was about an absolute idiot shooting at/ near people who were in no way threatening his life.
Among the persons terrorized was a 7 year old girl.

it gets freaking old, dealing with trespassers.

the one thing i learned not to do... is run cable. it works, but man when you forget it and run your own vehicle into it...*meh* the cable gets removed fairly quickly.

have dealt with one neighbor and cattle getting lose way to many times per year. and tearing up yards, to messing up trees, to the neighbor putting in hogs in a fence that was never designed for them and rutting up places, to dead animals rotting in the stream, to other.

dirt bikes and like, not sure if i would put up with it for to long.

i remember in highschool of hearing of folks tearing up fields riding there bikes, 4 wheelers, beaters of vehicles.... farmers get upset rather fast. ever now and then i hear of stories of like happening still today.

fishing (arghs) is another issue....

hunting is another issue....

if ya ask, ya ok no harm no foul, and a maybe yes pending. but doing as you please *shakes head no*

Hmmmm....... The only way onto my property - other than cutting my barbed wire fences - is down my mile long driveway. I've met "uninvited guests" many time who will stop and park in my yard. If I look out and do not recognize these folks I will always go out with my loaded shotgun. You never know their intentions until you are able to talk to them. Most were lost - they said - and a few were looking to fish in my lake.

This happened quite often when we first moved here in '82 so I called the State Police and they came out and talked to me. They had no problem with my approach as long as I did not shoot anybody or shoot at anybody for the simple act of trespass. Breaking into my house or attempting to injure/endanger me or my family in any way is a different matter.

There is very visible - No Trespassing - sign posted on the gate at the entrance to my driveway - along with a sign indicating that it is a private driveway. Uninvited guests have to go thru that gate - drive down my mile long driveway - come to and thru a second gate with similar signs posted on that second gate and on about a quarter mile further into my yard. There is no question that these folks know full well what they are getting into.

You never get the complete story from a short video clip - I guess the final outcome will be decided in court in this case.

I will be sure to call ahead when I come for a visit...

I like to explore Washington State and if I ever get enough time... plan on doing more.

Met a few through TBN and it was like old friends getting together...

A missed all of the get togethers due to work constraints... keep saying one of these days.

As to bikers... we had a real problem back in the 70's and 80's... don't think I've seen a dirt bike in years... don't see many kids either... all too busy playing video games I guess.
