Animal Tracks ?

We had some long awaited rain 2 nights ago and I located these tracks on my property. I also had some deer tracks nearby.

Just wondering if any one might confirm Coyote or Bobcat ?

Rule of thumb is that if you see claw marks on the track, it's dog species. If there are no claw marks, it's a type of cat. I don't see any claw marks in your pics, so it's some sort of a cat. At 2 1/2 inches, it seems a bit big for a bobcat, but not out of the question. It looks way too small for a lion, but it could be an imature lion.

My guess is that it's a good sized bobcat.

I will have to put out a LARGER saucer of milk tonight ! Looks like it was following the deer across the top field.

My stealthcam is in for repairs so will have to put out next week.

Looks more like a canine track to me. Cat tracks are more wide and evenly spaced where dog tracks are more pointed like that one. In the second picture I think I see claw marks in front of the middle toes. Judging by the small size and the short length of stride, I'd go with fox.

stravis, I agree with you...looks like canine to me as well...I saw the same, what looks to be like claw marks but also the pads and spacing but since I don't know how wet the soil was it is hard to tell if it was a fox..if it was real wet when the prints were made ...then it could be fox ..otherwise it was a good size dog or coyote judging from the depth of the imprint...my 2 cents.

My Stealthcam packed a big sad earlier this week and is in for repair. Will set it up next week and see who arrives to say....Cheese !:licking:

A guy down the road a bit let on he had seen 3 Coyotes near his house a week or so ago !

the lack of a lobe on the hind pad.... a clear X between the hind pad and front toes...
