Kubota 3430
I realize this is a fairly common question. The selection of which Amsoil is where I am confused after doing a search for Amsoil in the forum.
===============

My drivetrain warranty expires in a few months. I have only 300 hours on the tractor at this point.

I run amsoil in my Dodge diesel and have since it's first oil change.
I put amsoil in my generator after snapping the pull cord at -30F.

I see no reason why I can't put Amsoil in my Kubota.

Is there any reason why I should not use a good synthetic in this tractor?

Can someone tell me the correct Amsoil to use?

I am most interested in cold weather starting and the other benefits of synthetic oil.

Thanks to all,
David

Amsoil has several good diesel rated oils, as I suspect you already know. I see no reason not to use it as long as the viscosity ratings are what the manufacturer, Kubota, calls for. My Kioti dealer told me not to use synthetics in my tractor, waste of money. Then again... Kioti calls for 10w-30 and the dealer puts in 15w-50!!! So I am ignoring my dealer and I am going to put Amsoil 10w-30 on the next oil change. I suspect it will be the 3000 heavy duty series, which is what I run in my VW TDI. Amsoil has been changing their product line up faster than I can keep track of, so I can't help you with recommendations.

Visit the Amsoil (Click Here) site and look for the diesel rated oils. They have a couple of them. Any one that matches the weight rating you need will work fine. They also have a syn, multi weight hyd fluid I'd use in your climate.

I also have a VW TDI (06 Jetta) which just had is't 30K service. I see Amsoil has a European Car Formula 5W-40 synthetic that meets VW 505.01. Is that different than the 3000 HD series you mentioned? VW tells us we can go 10K miles between oil changes with these TDI's. That requires good oil.
I have used Shell Rotella in my Kubota's. Maybe the Amsoil would be a good choice for the VW TDI, Kubota L3830, and the Kubota RTV-900.

Kubota does spec a 10W-30 in all temp ranges. While it's pretty certain their recommendations are based on cold flow properties of conventional oil I would still not be afraid of running a 15W-40 in Amsoil. It is the most cost effective of all diesel engine oils in their lineup. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ame.aspx

I use it in my big tractors and combines without issue. The newer off the shelf oils including Rotella are all CJ4 specs including the new Amsoil DEO which are for 2007 and newer engines. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/deo.aspx

Personally I have reservations about using this new formula in older engines due to the removal of some of the EP additives. You can get Rotella in CJ4+ or whatever they call it for older engines but it's not what is stocked on the shelves at walmart.

Amsoil does offer a 5W-30 in the series 3000. It's a bit more expensive than the 15W-40 but if you are trying to meet warranty specs it works out fine with the CF rating. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/hdd.aspx

Pricing on the 5W-30 is $85.45 for 2.5 gallons. The 15W-40 is $62.55. Big difference. If you sign up as a preferred customer https://www.amsoil.com/AmsoilLogin/PreferredApp.aspx the price on the 15W-40 drops to $48.10 and $69.45 on the 5W-30. If you can use that much product a year it's a good deal and same as dealer cost.

I have L3940 thats less than a week old. My plan right now is to run one conventional change at around the 40-50 hour mark. Run that another 40-50 to get the engine broke in and get a good rinse of the OEM fill then go to synthetic. Now Kubota does say you can run your oil for 150 hours after the first change and 200 thereafter. I'm pretty sure I will not violate that even with synthetic even though I would feel comfortable with an oil sample the first time.

Hope I helped out some. I'm new over here after searching out Kubota info. I do sell the Amsoil line but primarily for my own use for the discounts with the volume I consume. Just trying to help and not seem like I am pushing anyone.

There was another fellow on a different forum asking about the VW oil recently too. The VW rated oil https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/afl.aspx is different from the 5W-30 series 3000. The series 3000 does not meet VW 505.01 specs according to the site. I'm not sure what the difference would be. Has to be an additive pack that is proprietary to those specs. I'm sure many VW's have been run with off the shelf rotella with no problems by unknowing owners:eek:

Amsoil does offer a new 5W-30 in the series 3000 Heavy Duty Diesel synthetic oil. I use that in my BX23 TBL which is stored inside an un-heated barn. This morning the temp. was -3 degrees and tractor started without any problem what so ever. I called Amsoil and talked directily to the tech's
to make sure about using this oil, they responce was it excedes Kubota oil. I hope this helps you?

I really don't know anything about Amsoil per se, but putting synthetics into any vehicle, and then following the oil change interval for a petroleum based oil is somewhat of a waste of money. One of the virtues of a synthetic oil is that they have a much longer change cycle that petroleum and castor oils which preceeded them.

Does Kubota have a change cycle recommendation for synthetics?

I see that I need to do the preffered customer thing. I do use enough Amsoil even without the Kubota to justify that.. Thanks for the pointer on that one.

My front spindle seals just started leaking and will be replaced under warranty. I will have the fluids done on that trip to the dealer and then do the amsoil swap this summer sometime.

Thanks to all on this!

I run the Series 3000 5W-30 in my BX2200 and B2410. I also bought Amsoil gear lube for the front axle, although I haven't swapped out the Super UDT yet.

Last summer, when the petcock in my 2410 dropped out and I didn't immediately notice, I was glad I had the Amsoil in the 2410. It got fairly hot before I noticed the temp gauge and at that point, the oil makes all the difference.
