Never been to Austin but know at least a dozen of more that moved there... some said it is the only place in TX that is suitable... go figure?

Well, Austin is the big hotbed of liberalism in TX.. so that makes sense.

I thought Washington would be a good move and have found Olympia to very close politically with the Bay Area...
Hey Ultra, I don't think Washington is quite that bad... but the urban counties here are making a run for the distinction.

Now out of King Co. except for a rental and last 8 years in Kitsap Co.(a ferry ride west from Seattle and home of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Pacific Nuke Sub Fleet) . The new immigrants though are trying to shut down private gun range established in 1906 that is about 7 miles from my house. Homeowners who's houses built 10 years ago near by the range are the ones squawking. Most of the county though was red but the new arrivals have now turned the county blue.

I've only met friendly Washingtonians... but Olympia proper reminds me in many ways of Berkeley.

Also happen to be in the No Discharge of Firearm radius around the Capital.

The reason for the Berkeley comparison is due the the reception the military received when disembarking at the port of Olympia... riots, looting, fires, etc... honest to God I thought I was reliving the Berkeley 1960's again.

Across the Bay Area a concerted effort is in full force to eliminate all outdoor ranges on public and private property citing concern for the environment.

I grew up hearing shots off in the distance from the range and never gave it a second thought...

This is the first weekend of Pheasant season. I did not hunt but the shooting around here was nonstop today. With the calm wind the shots could be heard for miles off in the distance.

The new guy on our crew at work moved here from California 6 months ago. He and his wife are conservative and just got tired of what has happened to Cali. so they moved their kids out here. He is like wow! everybody owns guns here, and he really likes that we are a Constitutional Carry state.

The closest I get to Oakland is the Sofitel in Redwood once a year. Going through San Francisco Airport is always interesting ... like a box of chocolates ... never know what you're gonna see!

She is in poor health never know might be another seat vacant

There are three possible vacancies over the next few years: Ginsburg, Kennedy and I do not recall the third offhand.
Replacing Justice Scalia, obviously, would be the first.

I almost moved there once. I knew Austin was like that and really didn't want to live there but the job was real cool so I was willing to consider it .... TrackingPoint. Glad I didn't take it ... not long aftwards they laid everyone off and went into some kind of restructuring bankruptcy and pretty much just focused on gubment contracts.
