It should be noted that the new polymer tipped .30-30 shells are accurate out to about 300 yards.

Question???
Why would someone put a scope on a 30-30 lever action??
Saw 1 recently & it sure made me wonder. It's a fairly short range cartage & a scope would just slow a person down.
thanks for your opinion.
1 other question??
44-40 Lower power amo. All I see is the rifle round & the old Colt single actions don't much care for it.
I admit I have a love affair with my .30-30 and I don't expect anyone to understand. The AR's are so much better to shoot with but the .30-30 makes me happy when I shoot it.

Exactly, only one plane of sight to deal with. The older you get the less you are able to deal with multiple planes.
Wife and I were out of town dining out. There was a WalMart across the road from the restaurant and she needed a few things for the house, so we drove over there. While she was shopping, I went back to sporting goods and they had all kinds, types and brands of 22LR in stock!
I picked up three 325 round boxes of Federal AM22 (one of my favorites) for $18.95 per box. As I turned from the cash register, my wife was standing there and asked if I wanted her to get three boxes, Score! almost 2000 rounds of good 22LR for $114.
Guess I'm going to have to take her out more often.
You got me pegged too KOua. I scope, laser sight, holographic sight anything I want to shoot accurately except shotguns. I even scope my pellet rifle because of my bad eyesight.Exactly, only one plane of sight to deal with. The older you get the less you are able to deal with multiple planes.

Most people don't shoot with both eyes open which limits their field of vision and then perhaps limits their acquisition sight time
Proper practice with a scope is just as fast as open sights also so there is no slowing down. Shooting with both eyes open with a scope allows you to keep up with things outside the view of the scope.
