I have been looking for an American Made floor jack for some time now. After lots of research, I found that most of the older jack companies are not out of business. Looks like Milwaukee, Weaver, and American Jack still make floor jacks here. Yesterday, I was at Northern Tool and found a 3 and 4 ton jack made by Hein Werner. They were marked "Made in USA". Anyone had any experience with them?

Also, will a 3 ton jack suffice for general lifting of a 3/4 ton truck? thanks

Hein Warner makes a fine product. Them (and the earlier Lincolns) have been a staple in garages for Years (Like 100 :D)

You should have no issues lifting a 3/4 ton with that jack. Could even use a 2 ton, but id rather have a little extra strength and go with a 3.

That said, you might be interested to know that HW is owned by a chinese company now. AFAIK Milwaulkee is the only USA owned company left. And they do make a fine product as well.

I've got a Hein Warner floor jack that I bought used in 1975. Still works perfectly.

You are not lifting the whole truck normally, and the truck might weight about 5000 lbs to 8000 lbs, and the 3 ton jack will lift 6000 lbs. Should have no problem.
