Amazing The Things You See When You Look!

Well, the day just started out like any other Saturday. After the morning cup(s) of coffee, head outside and start doing the yard work. After 2 1/2 hours, have most everything finished that I wanted to get done, so inside for a quick glass of iced tea.

Chatting with the wife while sipping the tea, she says she thinks we should take the day off from this point on. Couldn't have said that 2 1/2 hours ago?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyway, she goes on to say that weve been going 90 MPH for quite a few weeks now, and the next 2 months until our vacation gets here are not going to be any different. So she says she's going to sit down with a book all day and "veg".

O.K. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Being the considerate kind of fellow that I am, I say that I don't want to disturb her "vegging", so I will make myself scarce! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif (Gee, I wonder what I can find to do? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)

I grab the camera and yell that I'll be back in a "few" hours and head out the door LOOKING FOR TRACTORS!

It's an absolutely beautiful day! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Temps in upper 70's, big, fluffy white clouds against a brilliantly blue sky. Head west with the windows open and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy cranked up on the CD. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I get into Brodhead, a small town about 20 miles west of here. Hey, they're having some kind of celebration! Better not stop at any of the food tents. Won't go well with the South Beach diet! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But as I'm passing through, I see off in the distance what appears to be a bunch of tractors. So I drive over, and lo and behold there are about 40 - 50 antique tractors sitting around.

Well, I need to stop in and get some pics for my buddies at TBN. Maybe I could find some of those old style seats Rancar collects! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I walk up to the gate and ask how much? $10.00 is the reply! $10.00!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It's not that much to get into the big Labor Day Thresheree! "Well", says the ticket taker, "we have to charge more because we're smaller and fewer people will attend."

"Yup", says I. "You're right. Fewer people will attend. But not because you're smaller!" "Bye". I did snap a couple pictures from outside the fence though! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

As I'm heading out towards the main road, suddenly a helicopter comes flying right over me and lands in the field I'm driving by.

Hey, cool, they're giving helicopter rides! I stop to snap a few pictures as the helicopter is taking off. It was a two seater, as far as I could tell. Maybe one of you guys will recognize what kind it is.

This picture is taken just after the helicopter lifted off. He went straight up and then started turning to his left.

This is the last helicopter picture. Once he got some distance between himself and the ground, he cranked it hard left and shot up into the air pretty quickly. I think he had a kid in for the ride, so he probably was giving him a real thrill!

O.K. I finally head out of town again and get about 4 or 5 miles west, when I spot a <font color="red"> Red </font> tractor sitting alongside the road. I thought that maybe it was for sale, so let's stop and check it out! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Helicopter rides are awesome. I've been on several. The most recent was at the state fair. It was supossed to be the original "Bat Copter". Who knows? The first was a ride over top of Niagra Falls. WOW what a view.

I'm not particularly fond of helicopters. I had to jump out of one when I was in the Navy. It was a training jump for parachurte riggers, which I was. It's strange enough to jump out of a plane, but to go out of a helicopter and feel yourself being pushed down by the prop wash. That's weird! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
