This amazing video shows a 4 person family living off of plants and animals grown in their yard, in town.

Sorry, no tractors. Just subsistance farming the old fashioned way, they make it happen!

Now that's an awesome story!:thumbsup:It's nice to see somebody doing it the right way. Imagine how much better this world would be if more people learned to live this way again. Reminds me of Grandpa's farm when I was a boy. The only thing that came from the grocery store was sugar,flour and coffee. Pretty much everything else was grown and raised "IN HOUSE(!)"

Favorite parts were the raised beds,solar panels,compost bin and attention to detail/organization. This fellow has obviously put a lot of time and effort into doing it w/out using harsh chemicals and relying on fossil fuels. Great link, Thanks for posting it!

I'm workin every day to build this set up for me and mine. Got the garden (too much rain this spring), the cows, chickens, and even fiber goats for some clothing. Water comes from a spring, and looking at putting a hydro electric system on the stream for power. Don't wanna be a recluse just wanna be self sufficient as much as I can and having a lot of fun trying. 7

This approach is manual labor intensive..... there are 4 adults who are bought fully into the idea of staying and working together....this, itself, is an amazing situation, seldom seen in modern times.

This family reminds me of an old BBC program from the 70's called "Good Neighbors" with characters Tom and Barbara Good doing exactly as this family does all the way to the livestock and selling produce. The Goods make their own fuel too but from pig waste. You can rent this series on Net Flix. Very funny but the exact same approach as this family.
