Am I crazy to trade in?

You said, " I am just fine with 25hp for what I need to do around my 16 acre mostly wooded property - basic land maintenance and tree/trail cleanup. I would be happy to get away from the DPF system since I don't horse my machine in high RPM most of the time and like to work slow. The L2502 specs are nearly the same as the 2032R - lift capacity of loader and 3ph and machine weight. Thoughts?
I hear you on that. I'm also not working my tractor for a living. Most of what I do is basic landscaping type work on my own land, woods, and creek. It's a hobby, not a job. I like to work slow and do most of my work at a fast idle on a pre-emissions tractor. Usually work at 1200 rpm & idle at about 950. For me, work done that way is more enjoyable than listening to a diesel roaring at full throttle just because of DPT demands.

JD vs Kubota....we have both - and although the Kubota is our hands down favorite and the better machine - I still secretly wish that JD had made it. Maybe that's from growing up believing that all really good tractors were green.....

Unfortunately, If a dealership shop didn't get something as simple as the hydraulics right after trying twice, what are the chances the same crew that has already got it wrong twice will get it right the third time?

If it is a hose and connector, then that is one thing. But If anything major had been disassembled in their shop, I simply wouldn't accept it back at 30 hours. It would then be a used and repaired machine - and all because of them. Trade it or ask them to replace it with a new one is what I'd do.

You have my sympathy. I hate it when we hear of dealers like that.

YMMV.

My new 2025 JD 2032R has been in the shop for warranty twice for hydraulic issues that they cannot seem to fix.
What are the hydraulic issues that you are experiencing? A fitting that keeps leaking vs the HST doesn’t operate properly. To me this would play a big part in concern on tractor being reliable going forward.

Having operated several John Deere (790 & 4200) and several Kubota (L3400, L4600 & 4760) compact tractors as part of my job Kubota is a better product generally speaking. Probably just my personal preference and not worth much but if you're having trouble with the JD at 30 hours and the Kubota dealer offers a good trade (and knows about the JD issue) I'd trade.

If not happy and you can trade...go with your gut feelings.

If I were in your position, I'd do a little research on the dealerships in your area. Does the Kubota dealer have a better service department? Is there another JD dealer you could deal with? You might get a better trade if you stayed with JD.

When tractor shopping, I looked at comparable machines in the surrounding counties. I eventually chose Kubota, since there is a large dealership very close to my location. Never regretted the decision.

Having a quality dealership nearby can be a real blessing. If not, travelling to find one would be my second choice, even if it meant driving past others to get there.
