Tractor
2000 New Holland TC29D with 7308 FEL, and top & tilt. 1950 John Deere B. 1940 Farmall A.
After moving from Columbus Indiana, altitude 650', to Conifer Colorado, altitude 8500', I've noticed my tractor starts harder and smokes more. Is there an adjustment I need to make for the higher altitude?

There is nothing You can do, but your pump probably needs to be recalibrated for the high elevation.

Next tractor should have a turbocharger.

Less oxygen in the cylinder equals more smoke. A turbocharged tractor is a good idea.

Does anyone have a shop manual for the TC29? I was hoping there is something in it to help me make the adjustments myself.

I checked my manual for my TC34DA and did not find anything.
I would call the local NH Dealer and ask what the procedure is for adjustment.
That's what I would do for now, til some one on here can help.

Thanks for checking. If I call the dealer my expectation is that they would tell me to bring it in or schedule a service call for them to come and do it, rather than give me free support. But, maybe you're right, they might tell me how to do it.

What have you got to lose?

I went to the New Holland dealer in Denver and asked if there is an adjustment to the fuel mixture. They said the only thing they can do is advance the timing by removing 1 shim and it would cost between $150-$200 if I bring the tractor to them. There's no guarantee it will fix the problem.

I'll still call Ron's Equipment in Fort Collins sometime and see what they say.
