BTW, your BX1830 does NOT have an alternator. It has a dynamo which is similar to a generator.

The upgrade is to a real alternator.

I have a sims cab on my 2200 and with four spot lights, defroster fan, heater, wiper and flahing hazard lights I found that my light output and battery strength was not what I thought it should be. After installing the alternator I have no problems. I think it is worth the money, at least up here where running a snowblower is almost a daily thing in the winter.
