Yesterday my Dad and I teamed up my T2220 and his JD955 to get the adjoining properties mowed in a hurry. My portion has a slope about 150' long and steep enough to warrant a little caution while cross-hilling. I happened to look over just in time to see him come to the tree line 20' from me with rear turfs locked up and going sideways. He fetched up on some rough stuff that I had de-tree'd last fall, lifting one wheel a good foot and a half off the ground. First time I have ever seen my Dad actually look scared.

He "thought" he had put it back in 4wd.

Guess my point is, most everyone knows to run 4wd on the slopes, but how many double check? easy to do on our property because you only need it on certain sections, so I take it out after I leave the hill on each pass to keep from tearing up the turf.

I always double check because sometimes I forget and sometimes the 4WD lever mysteriously disengages itself. Not a good feeling going down a 30 degree slope and the back wheels start sliding. :shocked:

Safe to say some of us either in hurry or just plan forgot know what you felt..I for one.

Heck of lesson,but it sure does refresh us tho...glad no dents or fluids leaking.
