I know we all have done dumb things, and sometimes I think I would never do anything that dumb. :) I was wrong.

With winter coming I decided I better put the plow on my 4-wheeler. I thought that if I were to use the FEL to lift the front end of the 4-wheeler and stand it on end to make it easier to get to the bolts. Well, I got it lifted which took the FEL to it's fullest upper extent of its travel. BTW, I wasn't even on the tractor, I was beside it. Well it started tipping over (right beside my new truck, I'm sure the ROP would have made a lovely dent, with me in the middle:eek:). Fortunately I was able to use a hand to keep it from tipping over until I could lower the FEL.

I got lucky :), and just a reminder that when the bucket is fully up with that much weight, is not a very smart, the tractor isn't very stable.

Man, where was someone with a video camera when you need him? I'm glad it worked out and you or your truck wasn't hurt. It seems we all have stories like that.

I am often tempted to operate the FEL while standing beside the tractor. I think about what advice I would get at TBN and then I climb up on the "operators" seat.
Glad you were not hurt.

Actually, I am glad I wasn't on it, it probably would've tip for sure. I'm glad there wasn't a video camera, I don't need the constant reminder.

Are your tires filled? They make it harder to tip. Can still do it, so always uses your little grey cells.

My rear tires were filled, and I was just on a tiny slope, just enough for water to drain. I've learned a great lesson, don't lift the bucket with the 4-wheeler hanging off of it. ;)

When I was having my electric line dug, the operator of the excevator was digging about 6 feet down and the bank was falling in and it was on a hill with about a 20 degree slope. How he never buried it I will never know, but it was scary just watching him.

When my ground was frozen he slid down the fill about a 100 yards before getting the bucket dug in to stop. He just trammed it back up and started doing it all over again. He had to have had big ones!

O.K. I give up trying to figure it out. WayneB do you know the story behind that picture? How on earth could those machines end up like that?
