Where do I begin.....
Way back in Feb, I bought a "Bead-Cheata" at the National Farm Machinery Show. I had the opportunity to use it to dismount a couple tractor tires later that month. I was suitably impressed! Tractor tires that have spent a couple decades mounted aren't generally the most co-operative items you'll run onto. This little gem made breaking them down a simple, painless job.

Now, being a typical male, I waited until after I'd used it to read the directions. It was then I learned these things are also handy MOUNTING tires. They serve as a 3rd hand when starting the tire back on the rim. Hmmmm! Couldn't wait to try that!

I had my chance today. The first flat of 2008 mowing season. (I caught the valve stem on a log and snapped it off. ) Breaking the tire down was a breeze. Putting the tire back ON the rim was oh so simple. Beats the heck out of using vise grips, an extra tire iron, or even having a second pair of hands.

If you do your own tire work, or have aspirations of doing so, get yourself one of these things! They're all that AND a bag of chips!

Nice! That sure looks easier than loading the tire in the pickup and hauling it 40 miles round trip. . . and only when the tire store is open. That $150 would seem like a bargain after doing only a couple of tires.:)

Farmwithjunk, you were probably in the same line buying one with my dad. He brought one home and after we teased the snot out of him for bringing another contraption home to fill shop space we tried it out. It definitely beats the old way we used to do it with four pry bars, 6 hands and at least 5 skinned knuckles.

Sloan express sells them also. They work great for installing and removing tires.
