For the sake of lawyahoos that might want to sue me for damages encurred years ago,i'm writing this in first person as it was told to me by a man who is unknown to me and has since died. As teens in farming country where you make your own intertainment,we loved pranking the locals. One of my favorites started with a hose dropped from a plane in the process of fueling a fighter jet in flight. About 50 feet long,3" diameter, suprisingly light in weight and tan colored it resembled a huge snake. We removed about 15 feet and attached fishing line to it. At a lightly traveled dirt road where cars slowed before crossing a rickity bridge,we lay in wait. Fishing line ran up to a tree limb overhanging road so the "snake" could give the appearance of rearing like a cobra and folks were sure to see it in their headlights. After rearing, line was dropped and a secound line dragged him off into tall grass. We did that twice at one bridge that first night then once a week later at another bridge 4 or 5 miles away. Over a dozen people reported seeing a giant snake at 6 or 7 locations. According to varying sizes spotted at various loations reported,it appeard there were at least half dozen lurking. Sightings cotinued long after sneaky snake hibernated in the barn. You would think the boys would have the snake popping up all over the place but they didn't and for good reason. People starting getting shots off at not only the snake but other creatures. These might be country boys but they know when to leave it alone and not become a target. What ramped things up and caused lions, tigers and other beast to begin roaming the country was that Hugo Ok not far away was home base and winter lay-up for the circus. A few farm animals, dogs and inate objects were shot before it finally dies down.
