WAAHOOO!!! finally opened up the piggybank and went to Best Buy and got the CX 4600 just got it hooked up and sure a lot smoother and quieter than the old C40S Epson that has been anvil reliable and still is. I just needed a scanner and have been looking at this one for a long time. Looking forward to printing some pictures to see how they look. This thing sure is quiet, and $94.99 + tax. Meritline.com has the cartriges, 2 black, and 2 of each color for $34. and change so that won't eat me up either. How's yours doing Gerard?

I got one of those a few weeks ago. Have you tried the OCR that comes with it? Seems to work very well, and not terribly slow even on my old HP computer. I scanned a page from a cookbook we use so much it is falling apart. The pages are small, and the print is in two columns. Even with paper browning and smudged with age, the only mistakes were in the printed fractions. It interpreted 1/2 as a V, for instance. I don't know that the much more expensive scanner and software we use at work would have done better.

BTW, I bought mine at Best Buy, too, but I think my price will only come out to what you paid after I get my mail-in $70 rebate.

I have an 8 year old HP Office jet, (4 in one), on my desk, it still works great. A few weeks ago I caught a closeout at Walmart and picked up a pair of Lexmark 4 in 1's for $35/each. Yes, $35/ea, with dual cartridges. I stopped to buy new cartridges for my son's old bubblejet printer and they are no longer made. I could buy recycled, but it was cheaper to buy new. The HP and my son's old printer are earmarked for the next good will run.

I haven't got to play with it yet, too many Dr. runs, but was looking at the e-mail ads today and Staples has the CX6600 for $79.98 after rebate, from the 9th to 15th, guess I should have waited a few more days, oh well I think I'll be happy with this one.

Haven't had any problems at all so far with it. I'm sure glad the CX4600 EPSON is the one I went with and it sounds like others are having the same thoughts as well. Hope you like yours too. Gerard
