I saw this on CL and thought I would post it. I know one thing the pto shaft, hyd hoses and wiring sure would have to be "LONGER".

Heh, heh... now, that's a very confident hay farmer... bale right off the rake! Must have got the idea from those new combine-baler setups -- big square baler hooked to the rear of the combine -- Claas, I think.

If I had to guess, though; he's getting out of the hay business and just showing everything. A nice 6000 series and all... sure be nice. Maybe in the next lifetime.

No confidence required. Down here in the near desert of Texas I run a tractor & vee rake one round in front of baling tractor when baling Coastal Bermuda.. That is unless the wind is gusting and then rake is right in front of baling tractor. Look closely at the photo and you can see the heavy drawbar with pto shaft leading back to baler.

Truly amazing set up. Less passes to get the hay up and very good on a windy day !!

Transporting down county roads and trying to get that "train" in a gate would be a challenge. My rake tractor driver has some problems just getting my H&S 14 wheel rake in some gates while turning in off narrow county roads.

Well.. I'll be! I did take a good look and sure enough! It's that white line with about 4 black hanger bearing's!! If I drove that out into the field up here they'd be concerned that I'd hit my head on somethinga little too hard!

About day 3 or more likely the morning of day 4 after cutting you'd go out and check the windrows. If it's close - around 15%-18% - hit it quick with the tedder and let it dry in the sun for 3-4 hours. Then, about 1pm-2pm - rake it. Start baling around 3pm and hit it as fast as you can 'til about 7-7:30pm when the dew starts to settle on.

Next day, if it's an unusally long weather window 5 days+.. repeat.

A warm summer, we can bale by the afternoon on day 3. Last 2 years were very cool and wet. Bale on day 4 and raining like **** on day 5!

Alaskan hay season...
