Considering this for my new mobile shop if/when I upgrade. I currently have a Redi-arc ZR-8 I use it to run my LN-25 wirefeeder. I also have a separate air compressor. Since the compressor in this unit is a screw type it has considerably more output. I will likely add a tig module and plasma cutter too.

I've heard / read those are really nice machines. I just cringe to think you'll be doing any carbon arcing with it? In the past I've welded with shop machines that have seen a steady diet of air arcing, it sure takes a toll on the quality of arc. Never seen it myself, but several heavy equipment mechanic friends have told me they have seen the cranks broken in engine drives from air arcing. I can believe it though. I've air arced at over 400-amps with engine drives, they sure lug down at first, and blow out the blackest smoke! Seen the leads jump over 2-feet off the ground also!

The compressor is nice for air tools too but I wouldn't use it for heavy gouging. Occasional gouging with smaller rods should be OK. The air paks aren't cheap to fix if you abuse them.

I've never done any gouging so I should be okay. It is probably more welder than I need but the compressor with the drier/seperator and the battery jumper/charger makes it appealing to me. Plus it has enough generator that I can use it for redundant power if my generator in the trailer should go down.
