I have a Mitsubishi D1650 - I'm having trouble getting the tractor to start after attempting to replace the fuel filter (the fuel filter I received is the wrong size). I think I my problem is air in the fuel line and I'm not sure how to clear it? So I'm wondering if anyone can let me know how to bleed the air from the fuel line, or do I possibly have a different problem? Thanks!

Satoh Parts
loosen the air vent screws starting at the fuel filter and bleed all the air out . when fuel spurts out without air close screw. then repeat step to screw at injector pump.click on link for diagram.

Thanks for the help...I'll give that a shot. The diagram is much appreciated (as they say - a picture is worth a thousand words)

I just got through doing this same thing on a Beaver III that I've been restoring. I guessed as to where I could bleed the air and it worked.

So this is all that you need to do? You don't have to bleed at the injectors? I ask because I am getting ready to drain and clean the tank on a S-373 Beaver3 what wont start. The fuel in it is at least 1 1/2 yr old.
I assume you have to do this while cranking the engine?

Phoenix, you probably don't need to clean that tank unless you know it has something besides diesel in it. You don't need to crank while bleeding either because its just gravity feed. Start with the bleeder screw closest to the origin of the fuel and do one at a time. If I remember correctly there are two on the filter assembly and one at the injection pump. You should not have to mess with the injectors. If you do, that's when you will need to crank it.

Once when I had to do this, (I had air in the line from the pump to the injectors) I made sure I had a good charge on the battery, disconnected the lines from the injectors, and cranked away till diesel started coming through. I then reconnected the lines and it fired right up.

I also agree about the tank. I wouldn't bother. Make sure you have a good new clean fuel filter.
