My L3010HST has the usual Easy Checker lights on the dash. This morning the one listed as "Engine Intake/Combustion Air Filter" came on and stayed on. So I popped the hood and took a look at the air filter. The secondary element (inner) was absolutely clean, but the primary (outer) was a little oily and had been in place for nearly 100 hours. So I changed it. The evacuator valve is clear of dust or debris, and I found no evidence of rodent nesting anywhere. The cats are obviously doing a fine job in that regard. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The radiator and oil cooler screens are clear, and there's just a little pile of old leaves way down between the battery and the radiator. It all looks pretty good, right? The engine fires right up and runs good and strong. So why won't the idiot light go out?

What should I check next? /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Pete,

The air filter restriction sensor is a fancy spst switch...

Take and disconnect the plug going to it to determine if it's shorted {disconnect & the light should go out} or use an ohmmeter across it and a good sensor will read open...

Thanks, John. For an unregistered guy, you're okay! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'll check this out tomorrow afternoon. With an ice storm coming there's not much else to do.

Pete,

First you can't hold your fluids, now problems with your wind! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

There was a post about 6-8 months ago about your exact problem. I think the problem was a stuck sensor. Can't recall if the sensor was replaced, whacked until it worked or taken apart and cleaned. It did turn out to be a simple fix, though.

Sheesh! I went out this morning to check the sensor and the light was out. I fired up the tractor and let it warm for fifteen minutes so I could back her out into the sunlight, and when I came back to put her into gear the light was out. Go figure!
