Yanmar YM2000
A friend of mine was griping how much fuel his tractor burns just to bush hog, plow and do other chores. It's just a couple more HP than my YM2000 and when I told him how little mine uses he could hardly believe it. From what he said his fuel consumption is about double what I burn. It sure makes me glad to have one of these efficient little Yanmars.

The 2 cylinder engine in the YM2000/240 series ranks as the most efficient small (say, 25 hp and under) tractor I have seen tested. That loud, clanky engine is very economical on fuel compared to other engines of similar size and power, and has a very user friendly power curve.

I wish the newer compact machines were tested and the data published as the older machines have been. I don't think there has been much improvement in absolute efficiency, though emissions are cleaner from the newest machines, I'm sure.

yes they cant be complained about. my 1500 uses next to nothing, i fill it up and it lasts for a couple of months and i use it a fair bit. a friend has a grey fergie and when loading it up i can hear him complain from my house about the fuel it guzzles

What are y'all burning, out of curiosity? Our MF1533 burns about 1 gal/hour at PTO speeds...and that's just a guesstimate

1/4 of a Gal. per. Hr. if that running 2200 Rpm's. Thats about what my Ym2000 uses with a 5' FM. I just had a conversation with my Mother about How much Gas her Craftsman Lawn Mower uses when pulling everything out getting it ready here in Ga.. She agreed and here Fill yours up while your there. Lol.

my old JD 323 with a 4 foot deck would take around 4-6 gallons of gas each weekend to mow about 5 ac of lawn. My YM 186d with a 5 foot finish mower, uses about 1-1.5 gallons to do the same job. Same HP between the two.

Yes the fuel savings is awesome! I went from a 1952 4 cyl 140 ci 22 hp gasser to a 1970's 90 ci 45 hp 3 cyl turbo diesel- like going from a chevette to a corvette but the fuel savings are reversed.

Id say I pretty easy can run all day on 4 gallons of fuel (1/2 tank) its ridiculous how good it is on fuel fact thats the least expense I have owning it.

These are incredibly cheap on fuel. I wonder if this follows on from Yanmar's primary emphasis, diesel boat engines.
