I used ChatGPT last night, took a picture of my very disorganized, crowded, 16x30 shed, and asked for organization ideas. Pretty basic, but it actually ID'd a lot of stuff, recommended moving a bottle jack to the right side, and basically all auto related stuff to that area, feed/seed/farm type stuff in a back corner, and building some selves just to the left of the main door

...

So, I head over to chatgpt.com, enter "sort all of the medium base 2700k - 3000k 40W equivalent candle or candelabra style bulbs on Amazon by CRI", and out pops a sorted list of the highest-CRI warm-white B11 bulbs. 30 seconds later, they're in my cart, and I'm checking out.
I just now tried something similar, and chatgpt said:

"I can't browse the web or check Amazon in real time, but I can help guide you on how to search for those bulbs."

That's interesting. I just asked Gemini about browsing the web in real time, and here was the response I received.

Yes, I can browse the web in real-time.
I use Google Search to access current information that goes beyond my initial training data. This allows me to:
  • Provide up-to-date answers: I can find the latest news, sports scores, stock prices, and weather.
  • Fact-check information: I can verify details and provide sources for the information I give you.
  • Summarize content: I can read specific articles or web pages and provide summaries or answer questions based on their content.
Would you like me to search for the latest news on a specific topic or look up something happening right now?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And when I asked if it could access Amazon products, I received this.

Yes, I can "look at" Amazon products, but I do so differently than a human browsing the site.

Here is exactly what I can and cannot do:

What I Can Do

  • Find Product Details: If you tell me the name of a product, I can search the web to find its current price, specifications, customer ratings, and key features.
  • Compare Items: I can look up multiple products and create a comparison table for you (e.g., "Compare the Kindle Paperwhite vs. Kobo Libra 2").
  • Summarize Reviews: I can read through search results to summarize what people are generally saying about a product (pros, cons, and common complaints).

What I Cannot Do

  • Access Your Account: I cannot log in to your personal Amazon account. I cannot see your order history, shopping cart, or personalized recommendations.
  • Bypass "Robot" Blocks: Amazon sometimes blocks AI tools from reading their specific product pages directly. If you paste a direct Amazon link, I might not be able to "read" that specific page, but I can almost always find the same information by searching for the product name and details publicly.
  • Make Purchases: I cannot buy items or add them to a cart for you.
Would you like me to look up a specific product for you right now?

Timing is everything, sometimes. Amazon just changed their site to block chatGPT. There were a few news stories on that, just this week!
