If you hadn't seen it under what did you break this week, the Eagle 6500 air compressor gave up the ghost while I was changing tires on the XT250. I'm no air compressor repairman. So I employed AI to diagnose the trouble using the make and model number, and description of the failure. I got exploded diagrams and a most probable diagnosis. Said I should change the check valve and gave me a part number and a link to purchase one. I did search around and found a cheaper one. I arrived with the correct part number. I swapped it a few minutes ago and Whala ! It works. Thanks AI
What AI program did you use?

I've been using chat GPT for a variety of things. Just last night was looking online needing to purchase 4 x 4L bottles of La Matre low fog fluid for some low cloud effects at our wedding venue. Cheapest place I could find was $102 per 4L bottle. Took a screenshot of the bottle, uploaded to chat and asked it to find me the cheapest available option. It came back with a theatrical supply house that didn't come up in my Google search . Was able to order the four bottles for $58 each. Saved me $176

I'm using ChatGPT 5 with a subscription. As mentioned what you input is paramount to good results. In your profile you can tell how you want it to approach your questions; such as you are an engineer, I am such and such capable or level of degree. And it will tailor it's response. Personally asking it about local HS football may be fun but not what's best at.
Also when prompted properly it's not a bad financial planner. Recently I input a retirement scenario and it gave the same answer my financial advise gave but without the 10% fee.
I used for comprehensive motorcycle model comparisons weighing in my skill level, my height and weight, intended use, and $ allowance... then broke it down year by year with the model changes that occurred in various yrs of production. Ending with todays value and sale ads within 100 miles of my zip code. Do that with google ;)

On one of the 3 or 4 existing threads on AI, i ran a theoretical tire and fast lube business model. You definitely need to ask it if it considered X, Y, and Z, in its numbers, stuff like Labor Burden on the labor costs, ect. However, it takes 15 or 30 minutes to do what would take days. You absolutely need to check, and apply common sense to confirm

Good question, and important response.

Better Input can lead to Better Output...... could you talk to the "leadership"-team where I work pls ?

These examples given in this thread (even just testing) are useful to those (like me) who haven't had the time or inclination to play yet.

The perspective of Potential Useful Tool, that needs evaluation of answers is the correct one, but given how many people fall into delays (or worse) just following GPS screens...... YMMV.

I just put in a correction to Google Maps. It was showing my driveway as a street a few hundred yards away. I wondered why I was getting cars coming in and turning around.

Scoot - don't want to drift your thread, but I think this is relevant, as it is probably The biggest example of AI in The Wild, @ the moment.

I'm not anti-EV (for those that want them), and I'm not blindly anti-Elon, but I think this a good example of the arrogance of The Valley (even tho Elon has moved-out). Still refusing to use Lidar or Radar..... Better Input = Better Output had me thinking of this example.....

That regulators are Hands-Off on this vehicle example... pause to think.... how well guard-railed will AGI be ?

Expect a bumpy-ride.....
