That kinda stuff is maybe my main fear of AI, the ability to enforce dozens of stupid harmless law violations. It really would take nothing to set up a couple cameras and just ticket everyone speeding; and i dont mean Speeding, I mean speeding. Turn signals, even on an empty road, not getting building permit to replace exterior door, even down to code enforcement tickets, for stupid stuff. Think if some of these super HOAs did it; the ones that argue about your white mail box being the wrong color of white.

My county is pretty laid back (for now) about a lot of stuff, BUT, if you read the actual rules; a building permit is required for any non-agricultural fence, irrigation, and other stuff; not even counting structural changes like replacing a door. I doubt they would know what to do if you tried to pull a fence permit?
AI God of Choice:

"Please find me all the Un-Incorporated Townships in (defined area(s)) that are unlikely to be overrun with development in my lifetime".

I can see where this tech can be appealing

On the AI related surveillance front, if you haven't already, check out what SkyDio is up to - their autonomous drones are very impressive, as are their outdoor docks (basically a fully automated, all-weather garage/charge dock/ground station).

^ recent Shawn Ryan show has a SkyDio founder on; worth watching IMO, but as Shawn tends to drop an occasional Fbomb, I won't link it here.

This is pretty interesting and amazing. Worth the watch... a little over 9 minutes.

We Let AI Run a Vending Machine. It Stocked a Live Fish and a PlayStation.

Anthropic’s Claude AI ran a vending machine at WSJ headquarters for several weeks. It lost hundreds of dollars, bought some crazy stuff and taught us a lot about the future of AI agents. WSJ’s Joanna Stern tested it all out. Photo Illustration: Ryan Trefes

If only the judge could tell the plaintiff what he really thought about the case!
Read the disclaimer: "Altered or synthetic content" AKA fake BS! Hey maybe that is a good use for AI, scrubbing the interwebs of all the fake content. But wait, the fake content is made with AI. So huge data centers sucking massive amounts of power just for AI to fight with itself?

IMO all synthetic content should be disclosed or watermarked in a way so people know right away it is fake. Seems it is up to the creator to do so now. As per youtube:

Understanding ‘How this content was made’ disclosures on YouTube

While watching YouTube, you might find information about how content was made. This information, found in the video player or description, can offer insight into the content's origin and whether it has been meaningfully altered. The "How this content was made" section in the expanded video description provides further details.

Disclosure types

‘Altered or synthetic content’: This indicates that a video contains content that has been meaningfully altered or synthetically generated. There are several ways that this information ends up in the ‘How this content was made’ section of the expanded description of a video.
You should expect to see this disclosure when:
  1. The creator manually discloses the use of ‘altered or synthetic’ content in the YouTube Studio workflow. When content is undisclosed, in some cases, YouTube may take action to reduce the risk of harm to viewers by proactively applying a label that creators will not have the option to remove. Learn more about our "altered or synthetic content" disclosures.
  2. The creator uses YouTube’s generative AI tools (e.g., DreamScreen).
  3. The content contains valid Content Credentials data indicating the entire video is made with AI. Learn more about Content Credentials (C2PA).
YouTube will carry forward disclosures from tools and creators available with secure Content Credentials (C2PA) 2.1 or higher that indicate the entire video was made with AI. This may include a label on the video player itself, or language in the detailed description.

Just wait until you find out many creators are not real.

Oh, great. I can only see township supervisors using that same tech, with "find all un-permitted structures in this township."
My county already does that. Manually last I checked. They even get square footage. They use ArcGIS.

One of our kids was involved with a bird nest count study where they compared the accuracy of human eyes on the ground, human eyes reviewing drone video, and AI reviewing drone video. The AI reviewing drone video found an amazingly higher count than humans reviewing the same video. Sometimes 4-5 times more. Pretty amazing and a great tool for monitoring species counts more accurately.
