Agrisupply Caroni 73" Flail mower Shipping Cost?!

So I bought a 73" Caroni Flail this time last year and paid a total of 2097 shipped to my door in Ca. Im in the market for a second one and just got a quote that shipping will be over 700 bucks for one now! I know gas is going up but sheesh!

Are you getting a Caroni from the east coast or the Ca. store there? If its coming from east coast it may not be going by rail.

You might want to ask about having it shipped by Amtrak as they ship freight too and still have transcontinenental passenger trains with baggage cars.

Ridiculous!! That is about $350-$400 more than we would charge with LTL truck freight. Ken Sweet

As far as I know they dont have a ca store? At least thats what their website says. I got a pm from another member here and was able to get the shipping cost down to 508 but thats still 1/4 the price of the friggin mower.

I would still call AMTRAK and see how much ot would cost to ship it as the agrisupply folks would ship it to an amtrak freight/passenger office siding.

My TM1600 (63") flail will be shipping out next week, and freight is around $400. That's about a hundred over last year thanks to fuel price increases.

AmTrak is an interesting option - I'm anxious to hear what you come up with.

Does anyone know if the CAST-300908 Extended Adaptor 16 x 1.5 from British Metrics still fits the Caroni gear box oil fill opening? I know it did back in 2008 - hoping Caroni didn't make any changes. Would like to get that part ordered before the mower comes in.

I ordered the 73" today. Motor freight to Ames, IA was $283. Should have it in about 3 to 4 days.
