I managed to get a copy of the owners manual for my used agric tiller. Now this manual is in English and Spanish. The English page says to change gear oil and use SAE 90 every 150 hours. The Spanish page says to use "El aceita deberia rebosar SAE 140 hasta el nivel situado" every 150 hours. Does anyone know if North American SAE 90 gear oil the same as SAE 140 European?

90 or 140 will work. I have an Agric also and I have a little of both in it.

If you use 140, don't try tilling in January ;-)

I have 140 in mine as it is used in tough soils.

SAE is standardized so the answer is no, SAE 90 and SAE 140 are not the same. In your area, that being Canada, I would probably go with the SAE 90 weight oil. I suspect you see more colder weather than hot. Higher viscosity oils also tend to run hotter as the thicker oil increases resistance to flow. Pick a good high quality SAE 90 and your tiller should be happy for many years to come.
