AGCO ST Series

Has anyone looked at or purchased an AGCO ST series tractor. I don't know much about them and there isn't much posted about the AGCO line of compacts. Are they worth considering or should I confine my search to the big three?

I stopped at a local farm equipment dealer. I didn't have time to ride, but they had an ST25 with 60" MMM advertised for $13,000.00 + $3,500 for a FEL. I'm sure there was some negotiating room. How's this compare to anything else that you've seen or been quoted?

Agco ST series is the same as the M-F compacts. I'm not sure what the ST25 is equivalent to, but here are the ones I do know (not positive on these cross references, so maybe someone will jump in with a correction here...)

ST30 = MF 1235 (30.3 HP)
ST35 = MF 1250 (33.0 HP)
ST40 = MF 1260 (40.1 HP)

I test drove the the ST30x, ST30, and ST35. They seemed solidly built, but I can't say I liked the control layout as well as the New Holland setup. On one model in particular, one of the shift knobs pressed the side of my right knee anytime I reached for the floor mounted throttle. No big deal for occasional use, but a real pain if you are doing a lot of loader work where you might use that throttle to power into a pile of dirt. (Sorry, can't remember the model or the transmission type, I only know that it was NOT a hydrostatic transmission).

Just read your question about Agco ST's. I have 6 JD 955's and 2 JD 855's. Started wanted to replace one of my 955's due to it having 5342 hours, great tractor, still is but the 4300 series JD were so big with less HP than the 955 and it cost $ 17,900.00. So I went looking, Agco had the answer. Now I'm a John Deere guy but I bought a ST35X and we are tickled to death with it. My guys live on these tractors and they all love the Agco, it's small with right at 30 HP. I'll buy another one very soon. Had it two years, 500 + hours, changed oil and all maintence with no trouble. Paid under $ 10,000.00 ks
