AGCO interested in CNH?

/ AGCO interested in CNH? #2
CNH, Fiat, and Agco dismissed that story months ago. When Fiat took over Ford NH, they were forced to loose the Heston Corp, do to a possible hay and harvesting monopoly. Agco took on Heston. I can't see the Feds allowing that merger +Case IH, without something big being sold off.

Since that story came out, Agco restructured, and is now Massey Ferguson. I think we need a play book to keep all this straight. My wife's soap operas are easier to follow :)

Last track I had CNH and Agco were both owned by Fiat

I wish Agco would purchase them, then maybe I could finally buy a New Holland, as they would finally get some customer service here.

The latest merger talk was an interveiw last week with the CEO of Agco and an Italian news.
Agco interested in Fiat's CNH unit: CEO in paper | Reuters
Agco is struggling for market share in North America. They do better in Europe and Brazil. Maybe a good time for a move by AGCO. Some of it would be chopped up no doubt. Deere still needs a large square baler in their lineup, so maybe they would make a move on Hesston? Interesting none the less.:D

Wouldn't see AGCO selling the Hesston brand. Probably the NH side if anything ever happened. It would be neat to see a MF forage harvester. That would be a big monopoly though, they would have to divide & sell most of CNH if anything were to happen. Just keep the best parts.

I think it was a slow news day and the orgination of the article was to fuel interest in the ag industry. A purchase of CNH from Fiat to AGCO would be a nightmare. Jsut think how hard it was for the past mergers to take place and all that was to be divided. this would be 10x more difficult to merge

I read that too, HHM. It's going to be interesting. Make no mistake CNH is being shopped. Daimler was reported to be interested a few months ago. Fiat needs cash for their increased investment in Chrysler. The ag markets are hot right now and that makes CNH worth more.

The breakup of Fiat Industrial (CNH, Iveco trucks, and Powertrain groups) will likely not happen until Fiat Industrial has been officially spun off of the automotive side of Fiat. That occurs in January. After that, who knows?

A CNH / AGCO marriage would be really messy due to forced divestment of major pieces by US & European authorities. I don't expect AGCO to initiate the deal...but they would be happy to take some desireable slices. The North American components would be the most advantageous.
