I plan on getting a Johnny Bucket for my 2542 very soon, so I want to put a pair of AG tires on.
I think the stock rear rims are 12x7 , not sure what size tires to order.

And does anyone know a place to order rear rims? I think the dealer said they were 55.00 ea .

Thanks

Thanks for the links. They were a BIG help.

according to carliseltire, the 23x8.5x12 should fit my rims.

You are welcome ! I would go bigger if you can fit it - I think on the 2500 series you can handle the 23 x 10.5x 12 lugs just double check on clearance between the mowing deck and wheel well. Bigger tires dont cost much extra, and really spruce up the look and feel of the machine

I just got all my tires and rims finished today.

I had ordered the front rim assemblies for a GT2544, they were on back-order for a couple weeks.

The rear rims came in about 2 weeks ago (12x7)

The tires are Deestone Super Lugs.
A pair of 16x6.50x8 and a pair of 23x8.50x12

All the tires are mounted on the rims, and they look pretty nice. Gonna wait till I take the snowblower off to mount them on the tractor.

Ducati was right tho, it looks like I should of went with the wider rims and 23x10.50x12 tires for the rear.

Did you buy the rear rims from a dealer? If you don't mind me asking, are they very expensive?

Getting the 23 x 10.5 by 12 tires would require a rim wider than stock as you mentioned. Stock is only 7" wide.

I wonder what Cub model we would have to order from to get a wider rear rim. Do the 3000 series rears come wider? I too want AG's but really want to go bigger.

I bought both sets of rims from the dealer.

Rear stock rims were about $55.00 ea
Front rim assemblies were about $55.00 ea also

He had a set of wider rims off a 3000 series, I think they were 8.50 wide. They had removed a stock tire and rim off a GT2542 tractor in the showroom, and bolted on the wider rim.

It was hard to tell how much clearance would be left, since there was no tire on the rim.

You would run into problems using the 3000 series 8.5 " wide rim because of your 42" mower guage wheels.

The 2500 series 23" wheels (12 x 7) are the same offered on the 3100 series (7 " wide) machines, the 3200 series is 8.5 wide. Using the super lug 23 x 10.5 x 12 on a 3204 cub with a 7" wide rim, I only loose 1/2" width compare to the 8.5" rim. (Remember the tire shape pretty much stays put, its just the rim witdth that changes) You can put on the super lugs 23 x 10.5 x 12 with no problem (width is 10" approx). You will have the clearance in the tractor frame, im just unsure if your mower guage wheel will clear the tire. It all depends on how tight the rear quage wheels are to the rear tires.

Hope this helps

You have the same size rim as I do on my 3204 - use the 23 x 10.5 x 12 super lug or something else of equal size and you will be fine...smallest deck I use is a 44" just enough between rear guage wheel and tire -just enough...

You dont have to buy another rim, if you dont want to -unless you want to switch between turf and AG quickly....

Thanks to everyone.

My 2544 has the 12x7 rear rims. When I looked at the charts from the AG tire manufacturers, all of them said the 23x10.5x12 tires require an 8 inch rim. You guys are saying this size fits fine on the 7 incher.

That's great news. Now I can permanently change to AG's with the stock wheels at that size.
