Aftermarket tool batteries VS factory batteries.

Anyone still using battery drills and accessories bought a long time ago?

My 1983 Cordless Makita Drill and Flashlight set is still going strong 30+ years later.

The Ace hardware had it as a special Father's Day promo back then... for $160 it had better be good and I have no complaints.

Brother just picked up a Makita assortment in a tote... drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, driver, flashlight etc... on Black Friday at Home Depot... he was in for something else and it was too good to pass up.

I just got a couple and will be using one today in my DeWalt sawzall. It will save me a lot of money in the near term by extending the useful life of my older NiCad tools. I was just about ready give up and pitch them in the trash because I was not going to spend good money buying any more NiCad batteries that would go bad in about a year.

Hi guys,
I've got a craftsman 19 volt drill (with NiCd) and I'd like to change to the Lion batteries; but cannot seem to find anything but the regular style. I looked at all links provided and just didn't see the Lion batteries or any type of adapter listed for the craftsman. Is my only choice to replace the entire tool? Guess I can, just hate to give up on an otherwise usable tool.
If there is an adapter and Lion battery available that fits the craftsman 19.2 volt - please point me in the appropriate direction. Thanks, Greg

Kind of late responding to this but most of the C3 19.2 volt tools are coming with the lithium batteries now. The best way to change it up is find another tool you would find useful and buy it to get the tool, charger, and a battery then buy a spare battery.

In my case I wanted the cordless ratchet which they have now discontinued because of a bad design on the 3/8" adapter. I finally scored that tool on sale and I like it a lot. They made the 3/8" socket adapter so it pushes in from the back unlike the hollow sockets that push in from the front. If you put too much pressure on it the adapter pops out. Instead of redesigning the adapter and admitting the problem they discontinued the whole tool.
