If you guys remember, I posted a while back, maybe 18 months or so, about some aftermarket teeth we were trying on our Bobcat Branded (Fecon Made) mulcher. After getting sick and tired of paying crazy prices at Bobcat, we approached a manufacturer about this and had him build us a tooth. We were testing prototypes, and after a few adjustments and improvements, we are happy. What we ended up with is an adapter/cartridge combo that can run several types of carbide tipped teeth. You bolt the adapter on using your factory bolts, then the tooth locks in a dove tail, and is secured with another bolt. These teeth are way, way cheaper than factory teeth. I know he has several different versions to fit different machines, but I know for sure he has them for the fecon v back, and the bobcat head that uses 2 hex cap bolts to hold the tooth on. Just be sure to check the spacing on your bolts, as the newer heads I have seen have a different spacing than ours.

They look blocky, but that is actually by design to provide more protection to the base. Some of our bases were worn from running broken and worn out teeth, so he did these a little larger than the base. I call these planer carbides. He can also do the standard splitter carbides.

That’s awesome. What’s the price difference between the OEM and your new aftermarket teeth? I know a guy who runs one of those huge rock crushers, FAE I think. I believe he told me the teeth on that were like $750 each.

Hey Tejas. I see you are near Hondo.. I'm in Pipe Creek.

I had an FAE rock crusher on demo. The teeth were between $85-$100. They are similar to mulcher teeth but blunt. I'm not sure what type of rock crusher your friend has but $750/tooth would make it very expensive to run. I had good luck with the rock crusher I demoed and the teeth held up well until I hit a piece of rebar in concrete and even at that, it still only chipped the carbide.
