Ok looked at curtis and also sims for my kubota.

they look like budget products for a premium price!!

got me thinking I see those nice plastic sheds at the big box stores or even those plastic deer stands that are enclosed. Most even have windows. does any company offer a cab out of plastic? I just need the wind/ snow off of me and those sheds snap together and are quite durable. A company could make a killing selling a $1500 hard plastic cab that snaps together for winter seasonal use.
If my only option are those two above brands I would rather sell my tractor and put the 5K to a factory cab.

anyone in the plastics business? this type of plastic could make a great cab!

Since it has to be custom designed for each tractor model and the market is limited, don't expect to see bargain prices on cabs. The best "bang for the buck" is a soft cab like Original Tractor Cab - about $1000.

Back in 1973/74 I worked at a place that made tractor cabs but back then I suspect the number of different tractors was quite a bit less than today.

I put a Sims cab on my B2910 years ago. Poor quality control and horrible customer service. I finally got a new B2650 w/cab, and couldn't be happier.

Been told plastic side panels create significant optical distortion. Same issue if front panel is NOT glass. I added a glass cab for two reasons.
First, have tractor I like
Two, it is tier 3, no DPF, other emissions devices.
Three, tractor has low hours, 230, and purchased new with super dealer discount, new mx 5100, hydro, rear lite, remote, $20k. (+tax)
So $ 4k for a cab was logical choice. Added new kubota loader, SSQA , grill guard, self installation, $4800. Including $470 freight. (No tax)

Price a mx 5200, w/ loader today, obviouly no cab, and what is your total?? See what I mean?

Great idea! Start with most popular models.

Purchased an Original Tractor Cab for my Kubota B2320. Cost $900+. Well worth the money. Wished I had done it sooner. A lot more comfortable plowing the drive way!

If I was going to build a cab, I'd use 1/2" or 3/4" square tubing to build the frame. Then the same to build door and window frames. Make sure it all works right, opens and closes, doesn't hit joystick at full extension, 3pt top link doesn't crush it, etc....

When it all looks good, I'd then fill it in with foam core sheets, then fiberglass and gel coat. For windows, I'm not sure. I had a cab with glass. After years in the woods, every single pane had a crack, but was still clear. I'd probably go with glass for the front, and plexiglass or lexan for the sides. I'd definately make the doors removable for summer, as I have no way to air condition.

My father had an old Curtis; Glass windshield with wipers, glass top, and removable vinyl sides and back. He used to put it on in fall and take it off in spring. It had no heat except that from the engine, he would leave the side windows down for visibility and dress in his snowmobile suit.

He stopped using that tractor about 20 years ago, but the cab is still in the barn and I might steal it. I may even take the tractor, a 56 HP gas Ford 4400.

I had one from Bercomac for a few years until built a winter cab.
4" Soft Cab for Compact and Sub-Compact Tractors

Was not the greatest, still let in some snow and wind around the bottom but it was alot better than nothing

Here are some pictures of the cab I built out of wood and plexiglass:
