( I don't understand your point Indydirtfarmer. I agree with you a BB840 with chain guards weighs between 1400 and 1500 pounds. Since I have no experience with any of your tractors, I have no idea how well they handle your medium (most would say heavy) duty 7' cutter. I leave the FEL on if I lift the cutter for transport, I guess you use the 650 pounds front weights on for the same reason.

I do have a DK45 and a BB720, and know how well they work together. I do not recommend a BB840 for the DK45, it requires too much PTO hp to run it through 2-3" stuff. That said if I were cutting lighter stuff (1") I wouldn't hesitate to buy a standard duty 7' cutter. I haven't seen a standard duty 7' cutter heavier than the BB720. )

Not so much of a point made, but a comment on the BB720/840 series of mowers being heavier (lbs) than most 6 or 7 foot mowers.....

If there WAS a point, it was to emphasise the fact that there is a sizable jump in weight from 6' to 7', and that it requires quite a bit more front weigh on the tractor....

All in all, I was agreeing with your comments, and adding a little more to them....

One thing to consider is that the 7 foot will stress your pto more than any other rotary cutter. You could step up to an 8 foot (if you could handle the weight) with twin blades and it would be easier on your pto. Just some thing to consider.

That's the truth for sure. Double spindles consume less HP. I think 7' would be a little more than 45hp, p(robably 36ptohp) could *efficiently* handle. There's a point where you're spinning your wheels by having to slow down so as not to lug engine. An 8' pull cutter usually takes about 35hp or so.
1200lbs is nowhere near heaviest 6' cutter out there. Mine weighs 1500,

Really, what other currently available MEDIUM duty 6' cutter for a cat 1 tractor is heavier? I've found several heavy duty and extreme duty 6' cutters heavier than the BB720, but I still haven't seen a heaver medium duty cat 1 cutter.
