Gravely 14G
I am new to this site and currently have a 1970 Gravely 432 Commerical direct drive. I'm considering purchasing a 1997 gravely 14G but don't know about all its specifics. Is the mower a direct shaft drive or driven by belts? I wanted to use my 40: direct drive off the 432 with it.

Also, I'm looking for a snow cab for the 14G; does anyone know if they made a hard top (metal) model in addition to the soft canvas?

Thanks in advance,
Doug

Doug, the 14G is much like the 432. All attachments are shaft driven. The out front mower can be used on the 14G but the shafts are different from one machine to the other. You would need a different long drive shaft, the one under the tractor. A stub shaft that goes through the front axle and a different u-joint assembly that connects to the front adapter. All the things mentioned are expensive.

Doug, the 14G is much like the 432. All attachments are shaft driven.

And that is where the similarity ends. The G series is the culmination of the 800/8000 series. The 400 series is based on the two wheel tractor transmission. The 800/8000/G is a much larger transmission made specifically for 4 wheel tractor use.
