Buying Advice advice on buying Kubota L1500

Hello everyone,

I googled this model tractor and this site was one of the results. I spent 5 minutes and found out there is a ton of info all around, so I wondered if someone could give some guidance. I found this L1500 tractor that I believe is a grey model L175. It comes with a 5' finish mower in excellent shape. He has a set of turf tires on it, but he also has the ag tires on rims that would come with it as well. He wants $1000 for all. I know this gentleman and as far as I am concerned his word is gold, so I am not concerned about the shape of the tractor. He says when he parked it three years ago it was running fine. What I would like to ask is: 1. Is it worth this price? 2. Should I worry about it sitting up for 3 yrs./ What should I do before I crank it? 3. Will I be able to find parts from a local Kubota dealer? Thanks to anyone for any help!!

I think at that price its a great deal as long as it runs. To get it running probably 2-3 gallons of fresh diesel and a new battery would be in order - draining the old fuel and changing the fuel filter.

These vintage had a decompression knob and a button for the glow plugs and usually a combination of that and a decent battery it should start - it will sound rough for the first minute or two as its a 2 Cyl but at 1500 RPM it should be fairly smooth.

Of course check the oil too before starting should be black without any yellow (water) - if in doubt change the oil too. The only other things to check would be the coolant level and hoses as a unit this age might have some cracked or checked hoses.

Overall a great deal at that price - even the 5' finish mower in good shape is worth $600+.
