Back when the price of iron was up and people were hauling everything including the kitchen sink, I saw a load of old horse drawn iron going down the road in a pickup truck. It looked to good for scrap so when he stopped I asked him about it. Luckily it was something he had picked up for his collection, as I don't know what I would have done with it if I had bought it from him... it probably would have set in my field for the next 30 years. :D

Way back in early '50's a JD "A-"B-"D''s were selling for $100 bucks . but as usual didn't have the money. And still know of where 2 jd "M"'s are for sale for $400. No buyers.
But then a 1950 dollar was worth a dollar. Politian's have enhanced it to be valued to around 14 bucks.
During WW11 any farm equipment left unattended was taken for the effort called "pocket money" still a group continues to use it.
Today could chain stuff to a tree and the chain would be stolen.
For this reason cleaning up the place for when ever the Estate sale will be scheduled.

Still taking pictures

One of the guys that specializes in 49-54 Chev/GMC pickups is always dealing with the extra stuff. He posts about things heading to scrapyard, if you want something, come and get it, otherwise it is gone. He does this to avoid having a junkyard of old stuff he doesn't need. Perhaps you can advertise on CL or Facebook marketplace saying it is headed to scrapyard unless someone wants it, make offer, then give a date when you start hauling it away.

I go to a weekly auction at a semi-Amish sale barn. Along with livestock, produce, and hay they have a "junk line" where people bring whatever they acquire from cleaning out the house, garage, or barn. Most stuff goes for a couple of dollars but there's always a few gems in there that go for $40 or better. You won't get rich but it does compensate you for the effort of getting it there. Best of all, you get rid of it.

In PA and MD I have worked with farm machinery clubs [like the Kinsler Rough and Tumble Engineers]. They can be discriminating [or picky] but will take interesting farm machinery.

I had an auction company clean out my mother's house. They were quick and relentless in sorting by keep, sell, and toss. They stuffed the sell items into a truck and took it to a weekly auction near Harrisburg and grossed $3,000, kept $1,000 for his trouble which I thought was fair. The advantage of this was he knew the market -- he knew what to keep and what to dump. Couldn't have done it without him.

It also gives somebody an opportunity to buy something if they can use it, rather than just taking up space in the landfill. Call me cheap, but I would much rather have somebody use an item when I'm done with it then throw it away.
