Advice on aftermarket air filter for '08 F250

Hi everyone,
I am looking for suggestions on an aftermarket air filter for my 08 F250 with the 6.4L diesel. I am comparing K&M, AFE and others.
Your experiences and advice would be appreciated. I am mostly looking for a boost in MPG.

I would not buy an oiled filter. make sure it is one of the dry filters. Personally I like the AFE products and it is what I have on my Cummins

On all my Diesel Fords I have ran MAC Air Filters. On my Dmax, my Titan, and a few F150's I have run K&N. All give great results.

The mpg gain will be minimal at best. I have seen 1/2mpg or so.

The air filter is not going to give you any MPG boost unless you're simply replacing a clogged one with a clean one. The OEM type dry filters the best. If you want the only logical economy boost, have you thought about an EGR/DPF delete and a program?

Yep, a EGR delete on Fords and GM's does wonders. I have seen 4 mpg doing this with a Quadzilla chip along with 4" exhaust and MAC intake on both my Ford 6.0's.

The Dmax got 2-3 mpg with just a simple 50 HP program and EGR delete.

Alot of Ford guys run AFE. I don't know if you will see any gains with a intake on that truck. It has a big filter from the factory.

I have run K&N's for 25+ years with no problems. Any gains? Probably not. But from an economical standpoint you can't beat them. Buy it once and never again.

The people that have problems with them use way too much oil. When I do my annual cleaning, I will let it sit overnight before I start it so it gets good and soaked in. Never had a single problem and saved quite a bit from buying paper filters.

straight out of the box(FACTORY OILED!) installed, drove ~8000 miles and the intake and turbo looked like someone fed it mud, turbodiesels pull too much air for a K&N, they will pull the oil out and then eat the dust that the too dry air filter can't stop.

Just my 2cents.
Your stock air filter in the 6.4 is good up to 500 HP and it gives your engine good clean air.
I have a 6.0 and there is no way I would put a K&N on any of mine.
For better MPG's add a 4 inch exhaust, gages and a tuner.

Thanks for all the input. As soon as I hit the 100K mark I plan on a Spartan tuner, Flowmaster exhaust and DPF. I'll rethink the filter issue.
