Advice on a Yanmar 1600

I would pass on it, rare model and to high a price. plenty available, keep looking. I purchased a much larger ym2210 with loader and bush hog for $3700 if that tells you anything.

Yea no way id pay 3K for that model unless there was extras with it like a trailer and an implement or something. 25ish maybe if it was good shape. But its a smaller tractor and i think is closer to the 2K mark.

I may be wrong but I think the 1600 doesn't have a water pump, it uses a heat circulation system. I prefer a model like the 1610 that does have a water pump.

HS im pretty sure youd be correct. I think the 1600 even older than the 1700 maybe? But anyway all those 1500,1600,1700 , the older smaller frames are Hydro-syphin systems or whatever its called. they dont have a water pump.

But if the system is clean and operating cleanly and correctly with porper mix of coolant to water it will cool all day long in the southern summer. After all they were designed that way and there is hot places and cold places in Japan as well. These tractors were also sold in Austrailia and Places like Vietnam, both can get hotter than most places here besides texas and FL.

Even a waterpump tractor with a clogged radiator will still overheat.

my 1500 with thermosyphon on a 38 degree C day pulling the slasher @2200 RPM sits on about 105 deg C. doesnt go any higher, thats with 25/75 coolant to water mix. they are designed very well and providing all components are in good shape and clean it should never overheat.
