Ive been shopping around for a 20' deckover 5' dovetail gooseneck trailer with tandem singles 14K rated trailer with WEDGE ramps Ive physically looked at 2 trailers so far and Corn-Pro trailers have my vote by far... but its the most expensive as well. I want wedge ramps so I can pull the truck up on, fold up the ramps then back onto the ramp.... 4 of the dealerships I called out of the 7 total were a bit clueless as to what I was doing..... or what I wanted!

**which is better TORSION axels or LEAF SPRING axels**?

Ive narrowed it down to:
CORN PRO
BIG TEX
PJ trailers

here are pics of the CORN PRO Im looking at.... Note the breakaway LED display tester... neat feature!

Have you looked at Pequea trailers? A buddy of mine has a Pequea gooseneck that has been worked really hard and is still in great shape. They have a panel in the back that lifts up changing the tail in more flat deck space. Here's a pic.

Torsion axles ride better, but cost more.
PJ puts CRAPPY tires on their trailers, I'm not happy with that (overall though not a bad trailer)

Around here trailers are delivered without tires and the DEALER puts the tires on.

It's best to check what's on the trailers

Ive had guys say that a leaf spring would be better.... and one guy has "sprung" one of his axels when he overloaded it and now only 3 tires touch the ground when its unloaded...... Granted Ill never overload the trailer with my 2001 cummins or all 3 of the kubotas on there.

The Corn Pro has the torsion axels and is priced about the same but a little higher...

It's easy to slam through a torsion axle, when the rubber strings burst. The effect as described, is that one wheels stays higher than the other 3 because on one side, the rubber is broken.
I work at a trailer company, our service department replaces about 2 teared torsion axles each month, mostly from building contractors and landscapers, folks that haul things like stone, brick and dirt. what you also see is bent swing arms.

We are negotiating with an axle importer, to get the manufacturer build an axle to our specifications. For reliability, it will be a solid axle that can be equipped with either leaf springs or air suspension.
Rubber suspension does give a smoother ride, but is less robust. You can equip a leaf or air sprung axle with a rubber end stop between the axle and the frame, but there is only the underside of the wagon deck and the tire, that can stop the swing arm of a torsion axle to slam through the suspension when overloaded.

I think you get my preference... auto levelling air suspension with load dependant brake force adjustment.... or leaf springs if you dont want to pay for the comfort.
Though i realise that electric brakes is the norm in North America, so most pick ups dont have compressed air on board, which means that the cost for air suspension allmost triples when a dedicated 12V compressor had to be fitted for suspension only.

You might also try Appalachian Trailers. I have a 12K gooseneck tandem single. They have 14K also and with the pop up back section someone else mentioned. Mine has leaf springs, 16" tires, about a 35" deck height at the tires, and looks identical to the corn pro pics. I thought prices were reasonable. Their site is Appalachiantrailers.com

Just curious why one would do this ?

My 01 pulling truck is 4500K on the front axel and 2400K on the rear(without any weights), the 20' deck isnt long enough to put the majority of the weight over the tires so Ill have to fold up the ramps then back onto them, this will put the majority of the weight over the axels. (I cant back on or else it will be pulling a parachutte.

Ive got 800lbs of suitcase weights that will sit on a bracket inbetween the risers on the gooseneck.

note- my 06 is a 2500 as well (tow rig)
