Adjusting the cutting height on a MMM on my new BX2370

Is there some easy way to turn the cutting height adjustment on the BX23??? It seems very balky and sometimes impossible to turn. I know that the lift must be in the highest position to adjust it. When I get it in the TOP position, it often doesn't want to move from there? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ahead.

I have a BX1500, and I found that after sitting for a week, the adjusting knob was VERY HARD to turn. I move the lift lever up and down (tractor running of course) a few times and that solved the problem. As I change heights several times when using the tractor for mowing, i have found that after using it in one position there is no problem switching to another.

I also have had the same problem. I've tried bumping the deck up and down a few times and sometimes that helps, sometimes not. I have a large pair of channel locks and put that on the knob and most of the time that breaks it loose. I figure you shouldn't have to do that but if I break it, then hopefully it will be fixed and work correctly.

I don't know if they use the same height control on these new fangled machines or not, but if they use the same as they used to (BX2230), there are 2 things you can try.

There is (was) a semi-flat piece of metal that acts as a detent on the side of the cam. You might pull that detent off and bend it a little so it isn't quite so tight. The other option, more likely to help, is to get a deep socket and loosen the nut inside of the cam. Here's a link to my parts drawing. The detent lever is part 210, so loosen bolt/nut 220/230 to get it off. The cam is part 160 and the nut inside of it is part 180.

The detent bolt can be a bear to get at. The cam and nut should be fairly easy.
Of course, if they have updated the control, none of this might apply.

since you mentioned "new BX2370" - do you have the owner's manual for the rotary cutter?

in the adjustment sections, at the beginning if i remember correctly, there are instructions to adjust the top position. you raise the deck and check the gap between the pivoting arm mechanism and a plate on the frame. if this gap is too big the problems that you describe can occur.

Most concise description of the adjustment procedure I've seen (from Harry at BXpanded):

Looking at the rear of the tractor, just inside the left rear tire is a linkage that controls the lift. There will be a gold colored bolt that faces rearward. Loosen the lock nut on the bolt and screw the bolt in one turn. Raise the mmm all the way and see if the knob will turn to the "Top" position. If not, turn the bolt another turn and try again. It shouldn't take more than a few turns of the bolt unless something else is out of adjustment.
