Can you adjust the clutch on a DongFeng 254b from the outside of the tractor? Is there a cover over the clutch housing that you can remove to make internal adjustments on the clutch. Mine is slipping and it needs to be adjusted.

I am not familiar with the DF but the critical adjustment is to have enough free travel (generally 1") in the pedal before the throw out hits the fingers on the clutch. this adjustment is usually outside between the pedal and the clutch lever. as the clutch wears, the pressure plate moves forward against the disk and the fingers move closer to the throw out bearing. A common characteristic to all the chinese clutchs (and to clutches in general) is they don't like to be slipped.... not at all. there is very likely an access to the clutch itself, but if equipped with a front loader, is often covered by one of the brackets, which would have to be removed first. then you can get in and possibly adjust if you cannot get 1" of free travel in the pedal using the outside adjustment.

The problem is I dont have free travel before it engages, but the arm on the outside of the housing is welded to a shaft that goes in the clutch housing. This shaft is alreading hitting a cast housing so CANT BE MOVED ANY MORE an that is the direction it needs to go. So I beleive I would have to do adjustments internally. I will look for some type of removable cover. It does have loader so it may be more difficult.
