Used the bh for the first time Saturday to pull some stumps. I was so careful with the PIA seat and still managed to pinch the wires. Big thanks to all who have posted with this problem. Checked ETR fuse and sure enough, blown. What a cob in a really nice piece of equipment. Too much saki perhaps? It's just a normally open pressure switch. The problem occurs when you short one side to ground (frame). I took the seat right off, removed the modular connector, cut wires and used a crimp cap. Tuck under seat pan. Problem solved. Again, thanks to all who posted about this known problem. Saved a ton of diagonistics.

Adios warranty.
Why would you assume a warranty void for removing a defective seat safety switch. This has nothing to do with warranty of the equipment. Maybe it would absolve the mfg. of any liability in an accident if the seat presence switch contributed to the accident.

I am not assuming! Read the warranty statement closely.:confused3:

i doubt it would turn into a warrentee issue as many of their models do not even come with a seat switch. Mine didn't.

If it ever for some reason it does turn warranty issue, make sure you keep the modular connectors. Just use some butt splices and say it's where their dumb seat mechanism cut the wires. I'd rather not keep blowing fuses which could eventually damage the ETR circuit/relay.

Besides, start already has an interlock, clutch must be depressed to start

Hmm, do I trust the Mahindra dealer about the warranty or the opinion of a member??? Tough call, but this is kind of like asking your mechanic for tax advice.

I have no experience with the Mahindra warranty in particular but I do have knowledge and experience with OEM warranties from other industries. Warranties are a multifaceted document. If you have issues pertaining to or stemming from the part of the tractor you altered, they will most likely not cover it. If it's an issue unrelated to the modification, they should cover it. There are also state laws pertaining to warranties. They are often not as cut and dry as we assume.

You nailed it. In this instance. A failure in the cranking system would not be covered if it was discovered that the seat switch had be altered. It really would depend on the dealer though. :)
