JD 3720
I have a 2010 JD 3720 and recently purchased a used ARPS 728 backhoe attachment. I only have dual SCV on the rear (not sure of the correct name, but requires you to pull the lever to get Hyd fluid to flow). I can use the BH if I bunjie cord the lever in the up position, but obviously this isn't a good long term position. I need a power beyond system to run the BH properly and my question is what do I need to do swap from my current setup to the power beyond. Do I need to fork out the entire 360$ for the power beyond system, or can I buy piece parts to get it to work 'properly'??

thanks in advance

Mark

Does your 2 spool valve at the rear have a PB port?

There is probably a PB line coming from the side of the tractor going to the IN port of your 2 spool valve.

Remove that hose and add an extension hose to the back with a male QD on the end. Hose from the BH IN port should have a female QD on it.

This is your new source for the BH. The return from the BH can go directly to tank, or any return hose using a tee.

3pt will not be available with BH attached, unless you configure it differently.

When you are not using the BH, plug together the two hoses at the

Hydraulics:
Type: open center
Capacity: 6.8 gal [25.7 L]
Valves: 5
Pump flow: 8.6 gpm [32.6 lpm]
Total flow: 13.9 gpm [

Is it possible to put a "Y" or "T" fitting on the PB port, so that you can run two separate units such as a remote and the 3pt? And does the return line from the "out" port need the same pressure rated hose?

You can not use a tee fitting in a series circuit, as the flow will go to the lesser resistance.

However, you could install a switching valve and switch to circuit A or circuit B.

There are also splitters that will split the flow equally.

There are also priority valves that will provide a fixed flow to one circuit and the remainder to the other circuit.

Return hose does not have to be rated as high as the pressure hose.

In a tractor series hyd circuit, the flow would go something like this.

Pump, FEL valve, remote valve, 3pt, tank.

sorry for not responding quicker, had to take my travel trailer in for service and have been using all available light after work to cut down the dead trees that were near the TT when it's parked. Anyway, not sure what a PB port is, and not being able to raise and lower the 3pt would be a problem I think with the BH attached. I'm hoping that I can piece meal the power beyond system and get it to work. I assume I'll have to remove the lever to make this happen. I need to study the drawings a bit.

I'm not sure if your BH is the same as the woods 3pt BH I just got rid of but I couldn't use the 3pt with the BH hooked up. The lift arms and the top link were connected by a 3pt frame and if you lifted up on the position control lever you would blow the pressure relief valve instantly.

I had everything hooked up and was able to raise and lower the 3PH with no problem. Think I'm going to break down and buy the PB kit and install myself.

So when you put the BH stabilizers down they just push up the 3pt lift arms? Do the stabilizers lift the rear tires off the ground? My little woods BH stabilizers would pick the tires up off the ground on my 3000 and my brothers 1715 (6") without any problem.

I busted a hose first time I used it and putting a new hose on tonight. It's pretty big and I think it will pick it up no problem. Also found out that I have what they call a 3rd SCV kit. So still trying to figure out what I need instead of the entire power beyond kit.

Power beyond is a plug that goes in a control valve. I think you are talking rear remote hyd. couplers and a valve.

I HAVE a rear remote hyd couplers and valve, I NEED a power beyond to run my backhoe correctly. My question is do I need to fork over the entire 300+ bucks to JD for the entire PB system or is there just a part or two that I need. My dealer is pretty good and I talked to a mechanic last weekend who said I could just tie up the lever while I used the backhoe, but wasn't a good long term solution. Hopefully I just need to purchase a few parts to get this working.

I started removing all the hoses tonight. When the first hose burst, I started checking the rest and have found quite a few where the outer rubber layer is cracked and a few have a large area of the metal sheath exposed, which can't be good.

Be careful with that hoe! Its a 3PH mount correct?

Get the whole PB kit, its worth it.

Hydraulics:
Type: open center
Capacity: 3.4 gal [12.9 L]
Pressure: 1987 psi [137.0 bar]
Valves: 2
Pump flow: 2.9 gpm [11.0 lpm]
Total flow: 5.2 gpm [19.7 lpm]
Steering flow: 2.3 gpm [8.7 lpm]

You only have 1987 psi .

J.J. What r u saying? Won't work, or to get the PB system. This is smaller than the larger BH that JD sells for the 3720.

You need a PB supply to feed the BH, and that would come from a PB outlet.

Ordering the PB system tonight. As far as flow goes, I moved every arm around last night after replacing the broken hose, and it was very quick, so hopefully I'm good to go.
