Adding down pressure to loader - Valve questions

/ Adding down pressure to loader - Valve questions #21
Just to double check your hose connections.

You have one hose coming from the FEL valve work port [ extend ] closest to the handle, which feeds fluid to a tee with two hoses that connect to the base end of the cyl.

The lower work port [ retract ] connects to a single hose that goes to a tee with two hoses that go to the rod end of the cyl.

The fluid from the pump is going to the IN port of the valve, and the out port is going to the tank.

If the pump is pumping, then you should have some loader action.

I have loader action, but the port that was plugged was closest to the handle. Thats the one I hooked the 'retract' to.

Would I have had to reverse them when I took out the plug?

With a SA cyl, it would depend on how someone wanted to use the lever.

With DA cyl, the A port normally goes to the base end for extend/raise.

With the valve mounted vertical, most people want to pull back on the lever and raise the loader arms, and when you push on the lever, you want the loader arms to go down and also into float.

There is a reason for connecting an SA cyl to the B port.

Can someone remind me as to why?

I'm going up there on Friday night. I'll post some pictures of the actual valve from the iPad then. Hopefully something is just hooked up wrong.

This is the valve......

The port with the new hose attached is the one that was blocked......

What is attached to the other end of that hose?

That hose runs to a 'T' that branches into the retract ports on the cylinders.

Then the lever on the valve should make the cyl retract, if the other ports are corrected correctly.
