I have an '07 Sierra with the factory Nav system but not the backup camera. I'd like to add the backup camera but I'm unsure about what I need. This truck doesn't have the DVD entertainment system so I don't know if the Nav screen is backup camera ready or if I have to get another screen. I also don't know if the wiring for the backup camera is in place. It would seem logical that the factory wiring harness would have the wiring in it, but how do I find out? I know that I would need the tailgate handle bezel with the camera in it but could I be so lucky as to that being all I need? Does anybody know about this option?

Don't know, but are there wires going into your tailgate or wrapped up near the hinge underneath?

Most auto parts sell a back up camera reasonably priced. I have one on mine. Bought mine from Ebay. It has a small color screen and works very well for backing up to my trailers. Easily wired up. I wired mine to power it with an on/off toggle rather than wiring it into the backup light circuit. Took about an hour tops.

The ones I have seen added to factory nav systems take a special adapter that fit between the screen and the actual nav box usually located up in the dash. This is powered by the revers lights that send a 12V signal to power it up when reverse is selected. You then run a wiring harness from under the dash in the cab back to the rear tail light area to tap into the reverse lights wiring harness and then onto the camera wherever you may mount it.

To get a full factory setup you really need to see your dealers parts dept.

I have a Nissan Titan setup like what you want. Cant believe I have lived with out it. I tow 3-4 times a week and it makes hooking up simple.

Yeah, I've seen the after-market ones and they're cool but I'd really like to go ahead and go with the factory one if possible. We've got that on our Yukon XL and it is very slick. I'll try to find a service dept. at a dealer that I trust since the one I bought the truck from went under last year...

I have a 2011 Silverado with the backup camera. The video screen in my truck is located in the rear-view mirror. My truck does not have the nav system.

Might be easier to retrofit one by replacing the mirror instead of going into the dash...

From another thread, not your factory solution, but you can point it anywhere.

Portable Wireless car backup magnetic camera color monitor RV Hitch Truck Trailer Rear View Swift Backup Wireless Camera RVCam Day & Night Vision

I've only used it a couple of times and don't know if the FOV is good enough for what you want, but it was great for getting my trailer hooked up.

And I can move it to my son's Bronco effortlessly.

I just had another occasion to use it w/ a Penske rental truck. Both the receiver (monitor) and the sender are wireless. I carried the monitor back while I aimed the camera for when I was trying to maneuver the trailer out of a REAL tight space. Plus I only had to make two moves to hook up the trailer.

Mike, check in your Glovebox for these Sticker Codes - UVA,UVB,UVC,UV8,UV9-
If the vehicles has anyone of those codes in the glovebox Sticket, you can use the NAV-TV GMLanCam to Add a Backup Camera - also does your vehicle come equipped with a factory DVD, do you know if it plays DVD movies in Park -
