One warning, Gauges on a diesel just scream to the service guys HOTRODDED!! You can remove almost all of the power enhancing stuff for a trip to the dealership and claim it is bone stock and broken. The service techs/warranty guys know this. The gauges will make them look really hard for any power enhancers to deny any warranty claims.

That very same thought had crossed my mind.

300 F. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Our truck is mildly modified. Mostly to haul better. Long since out of warranty, don't care if anyone concludes it is not stock.

300 F or a little less is the common idle temp. 600-900 F on the road not hauling. 700-1000 F hauling, depending on conditions and terrain. 1200 F, /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, shift down/slow down.

Running in town with the exhaust brake on will result in higher exhaust temps, turn it off and let it come down to 300 F before shutting down.

Just to add a bit to the before vs after the turbo discussion.... If your 1200F at the turbo, what do you think it is in the combustion chamber? Oil coking is the least of your troubles if you have 1200F.. Not directed at anyone, just pointing out that before the turbo is a far better indicator of engine temeratures.. If you keep the EGT, at the exhaust manifold and as close to the cylinder as possible, your engine will last much longer.. 1200F at the turbo just lets you know that you have a melt down nin progress in the combustion chamber... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

By the way Michael, I agree with your post.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
