AC to DC converter

/ AC to DC converter #21
My recommendation is still to take it to Radio Shack, but, here's my answer, I've never tried it...I don't think it will hurt anything.. Got a multimeter? set the dial at max Ohms (1 Mohm)(looks like a upside down horseshoe.) Touch the leads together and watch the meter. It it is a digital meter, the meter goes from I (overload or out of range) to near zero. If it is an analog(needle) type meter, the needle will go to the right. This means there is a path (completed circuit.)DO NOT touch any part of the board with your hands! On the circuit board, there are many locations for ground, There might be a connection to the frame with a green wire. Another likely spot is where the power comes in., One wire will lead to +9Vdc, the other is your ground. It will be usually be labeled with an upsidedown triangle made of dashes. DO NOT touch any part of the circuit board with your hands The static electricty on your hands could damage the electronics.!!! Place one probe at the spot labeled ground, and touch the other to the socket one pin at a time. One of the pins should give you a continuity reading. This will be your ground. In the absence of a qualified tech, you do this at your own risk....There could still be a shock hazard, since there is no power, Like I said, Don't touch the board, some of the capacitors will still hold a charge. I would still take it to Radio Shack to be sure...
