2019 Case IH 55A
I知 wanting to move away from my Scag freedom z zero turn in favor of a scut with mmm and bucket. This machine will supplement my Case IH 55a on my small farm and construction business for something smaller and easier to haul for when I don稚 need the bigger machine.

The main priority for the machine is mowing my fescue yard (1ac). I do enjoy nice grass and stripes etc, but realize that the scut won稚 be as good of an option as the zero turn, more of a compromise. The loader will be used for some small grading jobs, but not daily.

What scut has the best cut quality? I feel as if the 1025R will be the best balance of power and cut quality, but am open to other options.

I would agree with your choice. The 1 series is bigger than a BX Kubota and the loader is quite a bit bigger but yet it turns sharper. I had a Kubota BX for 10 years and now a JD 2025r both with a 60” deck. The JD cuts better but there isn’t a huge difference.

Think of your SCUT as a swiss army knife and you want to assemble Ikea flat pack furniture once a week for the next 20 years.

I just purchased a Massey Ferguson GC1723 with a 60" deck about a month ago and cut my lawn a few times. Prior to that I had a John Deere X500. Surprisingly, but the GC has a better cut than the JD.

Good luck finding what's right for you!

Going to start this off by saying that I don't really care what my lawn looks like. I have AG tires on my tractor because I don't worry about taring it up, however, I have never seen the tires tare up my lawn. It's an old hay field and it's is pretty well drained because I'm on a hill. I also mow with the deck as high as I can set it. I find I need to mow it less often that way.

However, I have to say that it does a nicer job of giving an even cut than my little JD ride on used to, even on my humpty, bumpty old hey field. I am surprised that a 60" deck can make it look as even as it does. I think the biggest difference is that the deck wheels on the old one could not be adjusted to get them riding on the ground at the height I wanted to mow it where the new decks wheels can and the weight of the mower on on the deck wheels so it isn't hanging in the air.

Anyway, I have a Massey GC1725 with a 60" MMM (basically the same as rcio7684's 1723). Given my low initial expectations and the fact that I don't overly concern myself with what my lawn looks like as long as it does not look like a hay field, I'm more than satisfied.

Blue beats green on price hands down.

ZTR beats SCUT on mowing though.

would you like to play follow the leader on the ZTR with a beverage in one hand!

The older I get the lawn looks nicer and nicer. My wrinkles have faded away in the mirror too. I wish the newspaper used darker ink and stopped making the text smaller and smaller and fuzzy too.
