I'm planning to purchase a 2032R this week and will eventually (possibly before this winter) add a electrically controlled 3rd function for snow blower chute deflector. I could also see adding other hydraulic capability in the future (top link, wood splitter, etc).

Are any of the JD dealer installed hydraulic options must haves or good value or am I better off installing 3rd party additions to the basic hydraulics package?

If it makes any difference, I'm a tractor and hydraulics noobie but very mechanically inclined (mech eng with hobby fab shop at home).

Thanks,
Jeff

JD offers a manually operated one that works good enough for me. It is a handle, just a few inches away from the steering wheel, on the end of a cable. Give it a 3 inch pull to raise it, or push it to lower it. Takes about 20 minutes to install the first time.

Sort of depends on just what it is that you want-need. Typically 3rd party stuff runs about 50-60% of what JD wants. There are companies that have 100% complete kits for what you are asking about. Do some shopping and get some comparisons, think about what it is that you want. JD may or may not even offer what it is that you need.

If you can get the equipment you need, a good discount and take advantage of 0%, it might be worth getting all you can from JD.

What type of snow blower are you planning to get? I have the 54" front blower on my 2720 and I use the cable operated remote spout control that bigtiller described above. It's simple and it does the job. I have the JD factory installed 3rd SCV which I currently use with a hydraulic top link from Fit-Rite. It would be nice at times to have more than one set of connections on the rear of the tractor as this winter I will need to remove my hydraulic top link so I can use the 3rd SCV for a hydraulic tilt rear blade.

Brian at Fit-Rite makes some nice kits. I wish they had been available back when I added the factory 3rd SCV.

I thought for sure I replied to this thread last night but that was on another forum.

I'll go with the basic hydraulics package for now and add to it as I determine what I need. My biggest concern was omitting an option now that would be much more costly to add later.

My only short term need will be deflector control on the 54" front mount snow blower. I'll take a closer look at the cable remote but I think a switch on the loader joystick seems like the ideal solution for the chute deflector.

I've delayed the purchase until next week because my sales guy has been out on training this week. I don't actually need the tractor for any specific date but after a couple months of shopping and over analyzing the purchase, I'm still feeling impatient.

What type of hydraulic actuator are you planning to use on the snow blower spout? There isn't a lot of room for a cylinder. While the cable-operated spout control isn't perfect, it is a complete bolt-on kit for around $130. The blower spout is not very heavy duty and uses a plastic hinge. You may need to use caution with a hydraulic actuator that it doesn't jam or bind or the hydraulic power will lightly bend the spout or rip it right off. :) This isn't as much of a problem with 3PH blowers as their chutes and spouts are normally much more heavy duty.

My thought was a small cylinder but I haven't even been able to see the 54" blower in person. Once I have the tractor and snow blower, I can see what will work. I certainly could end up with the cable kit or a 12V linear actuator once I see what I'm dealing with.
