About PTO

Hi all of you,

Can any one give me details about how to put the PTO working? I try myself but I don't know if besides the PTO shift (1,2,3,4), do I need to used the gear box? Does the clutch must be depressed? Tnx in advance.

Just like putting the tractor in gear, push in the clutch, put the PTO in gear, and let the clutch out.

My question is about the PTO but more on the speeds. I understand that in the US the standard speed is 540rpm. Well on the Yanmars (specifically 1500 3 speed PTO) what PTO Gear does that equate to. I have a 5' brush hog and it seems to do pretty good in the middle. When I go to third gear, the shaft gets a bit wobbly. If there is a chart with this info out there I'd appreciate seeing it. And I guess since I'm asking I may as well extrapolate this out to PTO Speed on other implements as well. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think 1 st @ about 2000 will be close to 540.
